Proenza Schouler

This season at Proenza, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez had West Coast surfer/skater girls on the mind. This meant a more casual, relaxed style, as well as some green hair and bright tie-dye-esque party dresses. The boys also experimented a bit with a more sporty style. Their target audience, the pretty young cool thing, will be quite pleased by their creations.

Elsa Sylvan walks in a rather unconventional skirt. They boys experimented with the idea of tying your sweatshirt/jacket around your waist, and incorporated that look into their collection.



Suvi Koponen wears what might be the coolest track pants I've ever seen... I'll take a pair.



This bright aqua dress with perfectly messy construction looks amazing on Dainane Contero.



I adore this white shirtdress on Kim Noorda.



I'm loving the colors of this tank dress. The bag is hot too. Flo Gennaro models.



I love the cut of this dress that Irina Kulikova is wearing. The tank-ness is cool.



This neon mess is just perfect. Mathilde Frachon walks.



I'm loving this bra/swimsuit top look with the ruffled high waisted skirt. It's laid-back, it's fun, it's sexy, but not overly so. Dorothea Barth Jorgensen looks like a hot cali girl with a daring sense of style and a lot of attitude.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta, Mr. American Couture himself, put on a beautiful show this week, as always. There was an interesting mix of pieces, all of them done exceptionally well. The Oscar woman is a well-traveled woman, full of mystery. Zac Posen made a comment suggesting she's a bit "dangerous this season". Love it.

Amanda Laine wore a perfect belted jacket with a wonderfully bright headscarf. The over sized bag looks great as well.



I like this blue on Katie Fogarty. Really special. Love the braid too.



I'm not usually a huge fan of white, but this look on Julia Joseph is lovely.



I'm in love with this sparkly maxi dress, worn by Iris Strubegger. The colors are amazing.



Oscar did a lot of work with black lace... Regina Feoktistova looks so good.



Karlie Kloss. Gorgeous.



Jac in another lace look. Very sexy.



I love this color on Kamila Filipcikova. Extremely dramatic. Really beautiful.

Marchesa

Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig know a thing or two about glamor. They created ridiculously beautiful dresses for Spring/Summer 2010. Even if Marchesa is not your thing, you have to appreciate all the work that goes into the creation of the dresses. This season there were Japanese, origami references that I'm going crazy over. I'll just let you see for yourself.

Laine wear an amazing one-shouldered party dress. The feather skirt and the flower embroidery are absolutely sick. The tights are a nice touch as well.



Danni Li wears an origami-looking dress that is simply a work of art. The lines are quite interesting, as are the rose-shaped cutouts.



Carolyn looks so very glamorous in this dress. The sleeves are gorgeous and I love how the white flowers contrast with the black of the dress.



Irina wear a crazy amazing sculptural dress. The wilted oragami shapes are insane. I'm in love.



Alisa Matviychuk looks a bit like a fabric explosion, but it's absolutely incredible. The color is lovely too.



Bregje Heinen looks fantastic in this drapey, pastel piece. I love the play with the length.



This mermaid dress is absolutely stunning. The seperation between the body of the dress and the shoulder makes it for me.



Anne Sophia Monrad wears the finale dress... She just looks like heaven. That's all.

Anna Sui!

I adore Anna Sui. She's a wonderfully talented designer who makes clothes for young girls who just want to have fun. She herself was one of these girls, running around New York City with Steven Meisel. Oh how I wish I could have been living in NYC back in those days... Anyway, Anna Sui's Spring/Summer collection for 2010 was like a trip to the circus. Her major point of reference for the collection was the 1967 film Dr. Doolittle. The clothes her girls walked down the runway all had that late Sixties, early Seventies vibe. After every show, I fall in love with Anna's spirit again and again. This show was no exception.

Natasha Poly opened in this charming little number.



I love how the grey of the top and hat goes with the purples in the print of the skirt. The boots are great too. Anna is always a bit over-the-top, which is why I love her.

I love the lion on the vest, and the little tie. These little details make for an enviable, clever collection. Sasha Pivovarova walks.



Black and white looks, like the one Hanne Gaby Odiele is wearing here, are still perfectly fun. Again the tie and animal art is endearing. The flats are also quite cute.



Du Juan looks adorable here with the round-collared jacket and mixed prints. I'm also dying over the flats. Super cute.



This dress, worn by Sessilee Lopez, has a perfect print and of course, that tie.



Mirte Maas looks like a cool Sixties darling. The boots are what really gets me here. Super cool. I need to find me some.



I love Sasha in this laid-back look. The shirt and shorts make for a fun, but easy outfit for a warm spring day.



This look has me a bit torn. On one hand, I think the dress is perfect, but on the other, I feel like the color might be a bit off. I can't decide. The bag and shoes are amazing. Eniko Mihalik models.

Du Juan is too precious. Love the tie. Love the stockings.



I'm obsessed with this look that Sasha modeled. The colors with the black look amazing, the sandals are super shiny and super sexy, and the cat mask tops it off. I want a cat mask...

Natasha Poly closed in this interesting dress and jacket. A little sparkle makes my world go 'round.



I want to play now and I've only had 4 hours of sleep... That's saying something.

Rodarte.

Even though I'm in a more fresh state of mind than I was in my last post, I don't believe I can accurately describe the Rodarte S/S 2010 collection. It was gothic, it was sci-fi, it was powerful, it was so many things that words cannot even begin to explain. The Mulleavy sisters create incredible, asbstract, destroyed, deconstructed clothes that are so unique. It's all a bit out of this world. This season, more than any other, that seemed true. The girls were done up to look a bit like tough "East L.A. gang girls," so says makeup artist James Kaliardos (style.com). They had black-fading-to-red lips, hair in a netted mess, and Native American-inspired black tattoos. Very dark. With the green mist that floated around their ankles, the models looked a bit like creatures from the black lagoon. Even Karlie, a girl who looks like the epitome of nice looks like a fucking demon. Some are calling it the best show in New York. Feast your eyes.

Rodarte's S/S 2010 collection is so far beyond anything I can understand right now. Absolutely amazing. I'm so brain dead from posting. I need to take a break. I'll be out of town tomorrow, so I'll try to get it in before then, but no promises. :)

Vera Wang

Vera Wang showed a collection of wonderfully somber clothes that had a touch of Paris in them. Vera, like myself, is a magpie, and included lots of gorgeous jewerly in her show. The leather shoes were pretty, as well.

Andrea Sheffield wears a slouchy navy jumpsuit along with a beautiful necklace.



Hind Sahli looks fantastic in a rouched blouse and cool biker shorts. The necklace is wonderous.



Hanne Gaby Odiele wears an easy dress and is dripping in a BANANAS necklace.



Hind Sahli closed in this perfect party number.



I love that there's jewelry on her shoulder... very cool.

Betsey Johnson

Betsey is as crazy as ever. Even the style.com phots are a mess. The normal look one...look two... gave way to party shots instead. I read that the models were even drinking champagne from the bottle and behaving "badly". Sounds like a good time to me.

I adore the printed pantsuit and the ruffled dress in this photo.



The pantsuit has a dress companion that is absolutely lovely as well...


There was even a sexed-up, grown-up Eloise girl, since it was at the Plaza hotel.

Frustration.

So after I had finished my Marc Jacobs post, blogspot erased it all up till about look 4. I'm not sure how it happened, but it did, and saved. Even so, Marc Jacobs is too amazing to post a so-so post about. I wanted all of the looks I picked with commentary, so I cranked those out for the second time. I'm sorry if the post is not up to par, or if the vocabulary is repetitive. I was and still am so frustrated I could pull my hair out. I hope I did you proud Marc...
