When I saw Balenciaga on style.com, I squealed with glee. If it were anything else, I might not disclose this information because "squealing" is rather embarrassing. If it were anything else, I might not have reacted the same way either. Ever since I became interested in fashion, Balenciaga has been a favorite house to watch. Nicholas Ghesquière does things that most designers couldn't even dream of. Whether it be soft or hard, I'm always head-over-heels in love. His collection for fall/winter 2009 was quite subdued as I remember it. Sure there was a great deal of eroticism, but it was all done in a sort of quiet, sensual way. Nicholas went in a much different direction for spring, with a tougher, urban Balenciaga girl. There were touches of sport and street throughout. The prints were in vivid colors an all very modern. Even hoodies made a significant appearance. Keep in mind, these were
Balenciaga hoodies. Pops of color peeked out behind fabric, making the pieces all the more special. Through it all, Nicholas showed his vision, while honoring the great Cristobal Balenciaga.
