Satisfied.

I should probably be studying for looming IB exams, but instead I'm exploring the world via my laptop. Earlier this week, while studiously working on my math homework, I watched Becoming Jane. After the seeing and then buying The Devil Wears Prada, I became an Anne Hathaway fan. In fact, I watched The Princess Diaries about a week ago. It also didn't hurt that she was on the cover of the January issue of Vogue.
Photobucket
Anyway, the movie starts with a young Jane Austen and follows her through her life. A constant pressure to wed a successful man plagues Jane, though she is unimpressed by the many men presented. She then meets Tom Lefroy, a man with a "reputation", and quickly falls in love with him. Her own life helps to fuel her career, providing inspiration for her novels. I found this film to be very honest about matters of love and such. It's no fairytale, though it has a feeling of whimsy about it. "Learning" about Austen's life has also increased my desire to become a novelist myself. Look out.

Moving on, last night was a lovely mess. I had friends over to watch Dick, of course and The Virgin Suicides. I'm quite convinced Spiderman 3 ruined Kirsten Dunst's career. The Virgin Suicides is directed by the incredible Sofia Coppola.
Photobucket
The beautiful, dream-like, morbid film follows a five sisters, prisoners in their own house, and explaining their eventual suicides. Depressing it is, but amazing nonetheless.

This morning I awoke to Julie and Gill jumping on me. The three of us lounged around until they left. Later, I went on my first run in months. It was painful, to say the least, but I am glad I did it. I hope running will become a more regular occurance in my life. I need to make it happen. Now I'm just enjoying myself here... I'm exhausted.

One final thing! The Gossip has just put out a new song called "Heavy Cross". The heavy guitar and powerful voice of Beth Ditto that have created ear orgasms are very present. Check it out: Perez

Now excuse me while I enjoy the rest of my weekend.
Enjoy yours <3

Word up sister.

PhotobucketI found this picture on one of the many blogs I follow (originally from The Fashion Spot, I believe). Le Smoking is a great little blog, just as long as you enjoy images of various beautiful people smoking.

Warm and Fuzzy

I'm not a huge fan of tear-jerking anything, but this is awfully cute. Perhaps it's my soft spot for animals. Watch and be happy.

It's been a long week. IB tests are coming very soon and I have been plagued by an awful case of the cold. Also, my room looks a bit like Grey Gardens. I just want to escape from high school, from home, and start all over.

Have a Happy and Healthy Easter.

Photobucket
So here I am, sitting up in bed sick, eating Veggie and Noodle Soup. My throat feels as if a tank has driven through. I incessently cough after every breath, or so it seems. Today is Easter. I have never really understood why people celebrate Easter unless they are Christian, but I guess that's fine. I don't mind the candy one bit. I'm about to watch Reservoir Dogs, hoping the excessive blood and gore of Quentin Tarantino's directorial debut will put me in a better mood.

Last night, I watched Barbarella.
Photobucket
I'm now convinced Jane Fonda is a goddess. The costumes were rather fantastic, and the movie itself was a campy good time. For some reason, my Netflix sleeve said it's PG, which I find completely ridiculous due to the excessive nudity and sexual themes. Not that I'm concerned. Just thought it was odd.

Oh.

I don't know if I have the patience to pour out my heart right now, but I shall try. The limbo I have been in with the mysterious "D" is squashed, or so it seems. There has been absolutely no discussion of the (fill in the blank) coming to an end, though I've stopped making an effort in response to the zero effort he puts in. I don't think I've physically seen him for about a month and haven't called/texted for a week. Not to my suprise, I haven't heard from him either. So that is that. I've sacrificed my dignity and broken every rule I've kept for myself in terms of romantic involvement. I don't think there is anything else to do...

Check out Adele's "Tired"
It seems to fit quite perfectly.
I have no legitimate excuses for slacking in this minimal, though still important area of my life. I am on Spring Break for heaven's sake. For my sanity, I need to stick with this blog. Spring Break has been a nice sigh of relief. My homework has been set aside for a "better" time. Movies, magazines, and the reading of ridiculous books have taken up the majority of my time. Though I will soon be experiencing self-hate for procrastinating so much, I do not regret these infrequent pastimes. The Jane Austen Book Club is definitely an example of procrastination gone right.
Photobucket
The movie poster is awful, right? The film was (quite obviously) a chick flick, about a group of people living vicariously through the books they read for a book club. Emily Blunt starred, so I knew I'd love it. The woman can do no wrong after her role as "Emily" in The Devil Wears Prada. The film also included an almost student-teacher affair and lesbian lovers, which appealed to my fancy.

On to a polarly opposite film...I watched Dogtown and Z-boys.
Photobucket
I had watched and fell in love with Lords of Dogtown, but I wanted to see the documentary. The film explored revolution in skating and the kids at the forefront of it all, incorporating actual footage/photographs as well as present-day interviews. Watching it, I wanted to be apart of it all. The boys weren't too shabby looking either.

In more important news, I have recently received my acceptance letter from the UW and committed. I am excited for what is to come...

I feel completely and utterly negligent.

I feel as if I have deserted this blog to partake in wasteful, unimportant timesucks which fail as creativity outlets. Perhaps I'm also spending more time with my studies, but I do not see why my academic life and technological fantasies cannot coexist. School has been busy and slightly mundane. I had an IB Spanish oral Wednesday that did not go as smoothly as planned, but hey, what's done is done. And thank (insert religious figure here) for that.

Monday was a wonderful day. Somehow, my friend Jake got ahold of some tickets to the Lady GaGa show at the Showbox at the market. The show was sold out, so you see, I didn't expect to have any sort of fun on this Monday night. GaGa, discostick in hand, was amazing, as expected. Her set was like a twisted sci-fi Warholian dance party in your hot pants with glitter and stilletos to top it off. The woman had 5 or 6 outfit changes, which thrilled me, as you might guess. The crowd was not as exciting as I expected, and I didn't get any action from the large gay demographic, but then again, I'm always disappointed by other people. Hah. That sounded completely self-centered. I don't care. It's not as if anyone reads this anyway. Below are some pictures from SPIN.com and a video of her NEW song "Future Love" at her San Diego show.

J'adore.

Anywho,
Thursday night was lovely. Gillian and I dressed up and bought a bunch of cupcakes from Cupcakes Royale and some real food from Trader Joe's. Following our adventures, we returned home and were joined by Bridget. The three of us watched a lovely, fucked-up movie called The Dreamers. Very provacative (NC-17 to be exact). Very beautiful. Eva Greene (of Bond girl fame) played supporting role as a fabulous, crazy french girl. Gorgeous. This isn't one for the faint of heart or stomach, as it includes themes of sex and incest, but I highly recommend it.
Photobucket

My mother just entered my disaster zone room and told me I need to "work on it." So until next time... Hopefully that's sooner rather than later. OH. Gillian and I have decided we're going to start a fashion blog this summer or perhaps a bit earlier. Keep an eye out for it.

Take me to Paris?

I love Paris Fashion Week because the clothes are generally much more powerful and uninhibited than they are in America. Much more sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll. Givenchy and Stella McCartney are always favorites of mine.

Natasha Poly for Stella
Photobucket
Those boots are hot hot hot. Apparently, Rachel Zoe's assistant Brad said "Bet they're made from potatoes and mashed up cauliflower," since of course Stella is vegan and designs her clothes accordingly.
Love Brad. Very ready for season 2.

(Insert name here) for Stella.
Photobucket
Do you think I could do those pants justice? I seriously doubt it, but I think I might love them. Not that I can buy some Stella McCartney pants with the zero dollars I have... I should look into getting a sugar daddy.

Lily Donaldson for Givency
Photobucket
A bit ridiculous, yes, but that's fashion dahhhling!
It's not about function.
TAKE ME!
All this looking at models has left me hungry.
Until later...

Today has been a good day :)
I hope the same for you!

Lazy Days...

I apologize for neglecting my non-existent readers. I have been preoccupied with a great deal. It seems to never end. This weekend however, I did not have any responsibilites related to school. Seems a bit too good to be true to me. Friday night, I participated in a fashion show, wearing secondhand clothing to benefit Sewgreen. Inspired by all the lovely models walking the Fall 2009 runways, I strutted my stuff to the best of my ability.

After the craziness that was the fashion show, I had an enjoyable night with a manfriend. Junk food, Resident Evil: Extinction, and certain other things are a lovely combination, if you didn't guess. Milla Jovovich is hot shit.

Saturday was completely lazy. I did a whole lot of nothing. Monica and I watched an entire disk of Weeds. Mary-Kate Olsen has been guest-starring as a pot-smoking super Christian. Love it. I adore the girl.
Photobucket
Today has been pretty low-key as well. Monica and I had lunch with our friend Bridget at Red Mill Burgers, where they have the most incredible veggie burger. After that I did some driving people around and doing nothing. Then I got in a little tiff with my mother and decided to blast The Gossip and Sex Pistols to make my teenage angst known. Hah. Now I'm sitting in bed. I don't want to do anything ever again. Except watch the final disk of Weeds. :)

Further apologies if my posts have sucked...
I've been crazy busy and then lazy as a result. I don't have the patience for a better one today.
I want some gummi bears.

What a week...Part 2

My last post came after a long week of school-related struggle. Today I post because I'm at the tailend of an emotionally exhausting week. I've been spending a lot of time with girlfriends, but not enough with a certain boy... This is not my doing of course. I don't want to blame him either. We are both incredibly busy. Anyway, I've just been a bit crazy and confused, but I guess I'm doing alright.

New York Fashion Week started on Friday the 13th and ended yesterday, the 20th. Around this time, I was glued to my computer, looking through an insane number of collections. I'm so ready to be out of high school so I can start pursuing a career in fashion journalism.

Anna Sui's show was perfectly wonderful as always:

Her clothes just make me happy.

Last night I watched Dick with Gillian, which always seems to cheer me up. I want to live with Betsey in Arlene in the Seventies.
Photobucket
They're just so happy and carefree...I miss being more like that. I think I'm worrying about this all too much. I need to bring my free spirit back to life!

Tomorrow brings the ever unbearable routine of high school... SIGH
I'm sorry (to the few of you that read this) if my posts have become jumbled and nonsensical, but that is what my life is as of now.

What a week...

Photobucket
I have no idea where to start. This past week was exhausting. After turning in my entire life on Friday, I spent the night relaxing. I don't recall what happened exactly, but there was a lot of sleep involved. That night I watched Vicky Cristina Barcelona with my best friend Gillian.
Photobucket
The film was enjoyable, but a bit disappointing. I had been looking forward to watching it, due to its passionate and sexual nature. Basically, the premise is that two women (guess who) go on a trip to Barcelona, they meet a gorgeous spanish painter, and end up involved in a crazy love square(?) because the man's ex-wife comes back into his life. At one point in time, Cristina (Scarlett Johansson), Juan Antonio (Javier Bardem), and his ex-wife Maria Elena (Penelope Cruz) are living under the same roof, all completely infatuated with each other. Yes, there is girl-on-girl action. I do love the fact that Woody Allen questions traditional relationship ideas and such. Javier Bardem is a sexy motherfucker, but Penelope Cruz is the one that truly sizzles. Her role as an unstable and gorgeous artist is positively engaging. She's that crazy girl that is an absolute genius, can love you until you collapse, and then will proceed to stab you, but literally. Anyways, an enjoyable film, but could have been better I guess.

Moving on...

Saturday was Valentine's Day, of course. Gillian and I went on a mission, delivering Valentines to close friends, shopping a bit, and eating Thai food. Being anti-Valentine's, I wore my pink I Love Men shirt. Gillian looked a bit like mix between a love fairy and a harlot. The homeless men in Capital Hill had a bit too much fun with commenting on her outfit. The event was not documented in part because we were anonymous in our excursion. The day was lovely and eventful. That night Gillian and I watched Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist with Julia.
Photobucket
I love this movie. It's precious, to say the least. The soundtrack is pretty damn good too. It chronicles the adventure of two strangers that we all wish we could have.

Today started with waking up to Bridget calling me, and then falling back asleep. Speaking to an angry Gillian, and then rushing to Bridget's house. We went to Discovery Park, accompanied by Bridget's mother Moira and their dogs Bart and Tip. Bridget and I took a nice, long run, the first I've taken in too long. It hurt so good. After the park, we went to Red Mill Burgers, where I had the most incredible veggie burger. I realize that's a bit of an oxymoron, but really. I don't lie about these things. Errands. Shower. Sleep.

What followed was a great deal of self-inflicted confusion. I have not seen D in a week or so, and I feel incredibly needy. I need some emotional satisfaction, which completely disgusts me. I don't need that... That's not me... Or at least I'd like to think so. In any case, I have completely lost it. I could probably explain it more, but I'm tired and feeling sleep-deprived. I'll leave you with two quotes stolen from a wonderful little blog called Una Bella Vita. One is from a movie, I assume. The other is from the most terrific author, Erica Jong. The woman was a significant figure in the sexual revolution, and I completley idolize her above just about every other person on earth. She's who I turn to for a dose of inspiration to continue to drive me in my independence. For this reason, this quote by her, about love and being vulnerable is all the more powerful.

"We think there is always a tomorrow, so why expose our feelings today? Why risk being vulnerable? Why take the chance? Because today, what we love, what we feel, what is real, is what we have. Tomorrow, it may all change."
- Small Miracles

"I'm going to tell you something really subverse. Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, and risking everything for. And if you don't risk everything, you risk even more."
- Erica Jong

I'm Still Breathing...Hardly.

On today, Friday the 13th of February, 2009 I have 3 papers due. 2 World Literature papers, which have to be 1000-2000 words, and the dreadful Extended Essay which is usually between 3000 and 4000 words. If you don't really know about my study habits, let me tell you...I'm a hardcore procrastinator. Senioritis has hit me hard. I have skipped classes the past three days of school to "work" on these papers, but unfortunately I did not accomplish much. Last night/ this morning, I edited my rough drafts minimally and didn't even proofread them. The point is, I'm done and I don't even give a shit anymore. I'm so tired this post probably doesn't make much sense. It's hard to be poetic when it's almost 5am and you've slept a whole 10 hours in the past week. I don't actually know how much I've slept, but not enough. I'm just glad to be done. This weekend is going to kill. :)

Black Balloon

I adore the Kills. The duo create rough, sexy, jumbled rock n' roll. I haven't gotten their album Midnight Boom, but I really enjoy the shit that I've heard. It's a bit like someone throwing a trash can at your head while you drunkenly walk home with a stranger whose gender is questionable. It's a bit of a mess. I don't think their music is for everyone, but I like it. They just came out with a new video for the gorgeously sollem song "Black Balloon". The frontwoman, Alison Mosshart is a raging machine fueled by sex. Love her.
