Givenchy

A look back into my blog's rather limited archives reveal that the first time I posted a look from a Givenchy show, I was fantasizing about traveling to Paris. It seems appropriate then that I'm miserably wishing the same thing while posting on the house's most recent couture show. All I want to do is hop on a plane alone and go to a beautiful city where I know absolutely no one. Sure there are plenty of places filled with strangers, but no place that I'd rather go.

On a more focused note, Riccardo Tisci has blown me away with just ten looks. As per usual, his work is both extensively and intricately decorated, whether it be by long stretches of lace or trails of feathers. Supposedly, Frida Kahlo and her three obsessions—religion, sensuality, and death—were the major inspiration. It would be no surprise to me if Tisici were to declare these his obsessions as well. Despite the designer's history and the subject of death, most of the collection appeared in tones no darker than gold. From the skeletal detailing of the gown on Natasha Poly to incredible tri-colored feathered skirt on Malgosia Bela, I could not have asked for more. It doesn't matter if I'm in heaven or hell. It's gorgeous here.
