Christian Dior

John Galiano's latest collection for Dior this season is brimming with camp, but I can't say I'm surprised. Galiano took cues from the musical South Pacific in creating a vacation-ready, nautical-inspired collection. Even Hawaiian prints—which to me recall unfortunate shirts for men and tacky sunwear—made it into the collection. I'm not so fond of those pieces, but they were often paired with cool outerwear, such as the white parka that Karlie Kloss opened the show with. The array of often sheer, brightly-colored dresses toward the end held some of my favorite pieces. Though I don't think John does cheesy beachy as well as Miuccia, I think this collection has legs. If not appreciated by the ladies, the gay men of the world will happily rejoice the penetration of camp in high fashion. He certainly made me smile.
