Stella McCartney

I've always had an odd interest in Stella McCartney, despite the fact that her taste for minimalism stands in complete opposition with my personal style philosophy. This season, it was typically clean and easy, with a touch of whimsy in the form of citrus fruit prints. A subtle Seventies feel (surprise!) seen in the prints and the denim section seemed an underlying idea as well. Stella's exceptional tailoring took the form of slim suits, trousers, and cool halter vests. A few variations on a high-slit panel-front dress were another touchstone of the collection. While I thought it was beautiful, I have to say it wasn't my favorite Stella collection ever. The denim section as well as the dresses could have been less repetitive. These days Stella seems to design for herself and the lovely army of mothers she calls her friends, though it has never been so apparent as it was with this collection. Clean and easy can be fabulous, but it was a tad too boxy in the wrong places for my taste. Even so, I certainly loved parts of the collection and whether or not it seamlessly appeals to a 19 year-old queen will certainly not hinder its success.
