Gucci

Frida Gianni's collections for Gucci can often be ruled a hit or miss for me. The vision is often so strong that there's no gray area. Upon looking through the photos of the collection, I was happy to see that Gianni didn't let me down. The sometimes questionable choices regarding taste level were absent and glam reared its fabulous head. The show opened with powerful color-blocked looks and quickly fell into a safari/desert/tribal sphere, first in lighter neutrals, then moving into black looks featuring gold details. The final dresses were all slightly above the knee in a variety of saturated colors. Fringe was a major aspect of the show, which of course led to me being immediately hypnotized. The North African influence seen in the basket-like woven details was also a beautiful addition. Gianni also used an uncharacteristic number of pants, most often of the harem variety, even showing a couple pairs of knee-length harem shorts. I'd quite like a pair of my own. The thought of owning Gucci is a bit terrifying though. To my amazement, Gianna conquered the snob in me. Let's hope she continues on the same path.
