Marchesa

As per usual, this season's Marchesa presentation was a glamorous affair. An unusual aspect of the show was the sight of pants—gasp—in the form of beautiful harem jumpsuits. These jumpsuits of course were not constructed in the usual jersey or what have you, but in rich fabrics including lace and chiffon, making an argument for semi-androgynous formal wear. The origin of the harem, along with beaded overlaying and head pieces, gave the collection a breath of exoticism. Being the art history nerd I am, Ingres' Grand Odalisque came to mind. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have yet again pulled together a stunning collection that will have no trouble finding its way onto red carpets everywhere.
