Marc Jacobs

Nothing seems more fitting for this moment—my moment— in New York than a Marc Jacobs show inspired by the Seventies, Missoni, and Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver, among other things. If anyone can transform the idea of a teenage prostitute into a glamorous collection of ready-to-wear, Marc can. Of course the references didn't stop there, but being the baby I am, I could not piece together all of Marc's genius. Brilliant colors, countless flower-like accessories, and touches of sparkle contributed to an unabashed celebration of glamor and sex. Marc reminds us that fashion doesn't have to be devastatingly serious, but can be spirited and still full of meaning. Despite the fact that black, gray, and blue are my go-to colors, this collection makes me want to put on something the color of raspberries, alongside deep reds, and even mustard. Also, I'd quite like a choker constructed of flower petals. Dearest Marc, your work almost makes me want this Summer to last a bit longer. Almost.
