Thakoon

Apparently head-to-toe white looks will be an inescapable trend for Spring 2011, which has been further evidenced by Thakoon Panichgul's latest collection. The bloomer and jacket look that opened his show set the tone quite effectively, introducing a struggle between hard and soft. This tension continued with netted white pieces, yards of sheer fabric sexing up prairie-esque blue flower prints, and decorative hooks-and-eyes sewn onto otherwise breezy dresses. I've never seen Thakoon's work employing so much sex appeal, but he does it in a Virgin Suicides sort of way. I feel as though I still have yet to fully understand the concept of the collection, but in the meantime, I will be satisfied with the beautiful pieces in front of me.
